Share "Things To Know About Drill Chucks"
Drill chucks are one of the most essential parts of your drill. Here are some things to know about drill chucks:
A drill chuck is the device at the end of the drill that holds the drill bits. If the chuck is faulty, your drill won’t work properly.
Opening the chuck
Equipped with your drill is a chuck key: a small piece of metal that is bent so it can be stored in your drill. Just like a regular key, the chuck key is inserted into the appropriate opening towards the tip and turned. This opens the tip so that you can remove and replace the drill’s current bit. When you have inserted the new bit, simply tighten up the chuck with the key and you’re ready to drill.
Lost it
Just in case you lose the key, your hardware store may stock replacements from the manufacturer. Ask an employee at the store if you need help finding a replacement key.
